Jim Crabtree
Birkenhead-born Jim Crabtree made his mark as a DJ on the Wirral circuit, playing legendary spots like the Chelsea Reach, the Penny Farthing, and the Grand Hotel.
Known for his eclectic sets — mixing everything from Barry White to Laurel and Hardy — Jim had a knack for reading the crowd and filling the dancefloor. Even while working full-time by day, he gigged almost every night, including mobile discos across Merseyside.
A highlight? Receiving a letter from Buckingham Palace after cheekily offering to DJ at Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s wedding — and winning a free bar tab in the process!
